Where Creative Minds Meet

KKTC Textile Competition

* Due to extensive interest the deadline for this competition entry has been extended *

To celebrate 13 years of the Moray Textile Project, t/a The Keith Kilt and Textile Centre, we are delighted to announce a Textile Competition sponsored by ‘Keith Kilt and Textile Centre’, ‘The House of Edgar’, ‘Lochcarron of Scotland’, ‘Johnstons of Elgin’, ‘Eden Watermill’, ‘Wm and A.M Robb Ltd of Glasgow’, ‘The Sewing Machine Centre, Fochabers’ and two local magazines.

We are challenging you to make a Textile Accessory or Textile Item from material woven in Scotland. The item must reflect the Spirit of Scotland.  This can be in the form of jewellery, a handbag, a headpiece or a textile household item, say, a cushion or a covered stool etc.  The item can be enhanced with beads, embroidery or any other surface embellishment.  The theme can be defined and interpreted in any number of ways – we want you to be as creative as possible!  This can be modern or traditional celebrating both collectively or individually.

You may enter both categories (Textile Accessory or Textile Item) but only one item per category. There are no restrictions on technique or surface embellishment but the main part of the item must be formed of material woven in Scotland.  The judges will base their decisions on the following criteria;

  • Quality of Workmanship
  • Originality of design
  • Theme Interpretation
  • Suitability to the category entered

All entries, from both categories, will be considered for the overall prize winner. Two Runners up will be chosen - one from each category.  The winners will receive the following prizes which have been generously donated by some of our trusted suppliers and includes a KKTC Voucher.
